This easy homemade Amish white bread recipe is my family’s favorite and one that we make several times a week during busy seasons like summertime. It only takes 5 minutes of active time to make four loaves as long as you have a stand mixer. Once you make this simple and easy sandwich bread, it will be your favorite too!
1. Warm milk and water in microwave or on stove top until approximately 110 degrees. Just warm enough to activate the yeast.
2. Pour into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. If you don’t have a stand mixer, you can still make this in a bowl, it will just take you more active time to knead it by hand.
3. Add yeast, salt, sugar and melted butter or fat. Mix well.
4. While mixer is running add flour to the yeast mixture. The dough should be starting to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Let mix on high for 5-10 minutes while you finish other projects in your kitchen.
5. Turn off mixer, and remove dough. Place in a well oiled bowl. Cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap and allow it to raise in a warm place until double - usually about an hour, but sometimes a little longer.
6. Grease bread pans with butter or other fat. Punch dough down, dump out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into four pieces.
7. Shape each ball of dough into loaves (see video below) and place in bread pans.
8. Cover with a towel and allow to rise a second time until double, or until close to the top of the pan.
9. While bread is rising, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
10. Gently add bread to pre-heated oven, and bake for 30 minutes or until top crust is a nice golden brown.
11. Remove from oven. Take out of the pans and place on cooling racks.
12. Brush with butter to make a softer top if desired.
13. Allow to cool.
14. Place in bread bags and keep on counter or in refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes
Can also be frozen for up to 3 months. If you only eat a few slices at a time, you could slice it and put it into smaller bags before freezing, so you only have to take out a few slices at a time.
