A From Scratch Farm To Table Sourdough Thanksgiving

Sharing is caring!

Thanksgiving is a special time where we gather with friends and family and celebrate all the blessings of the year, especially the blessings of a good and bountiful harvest. We have combined all of our favorite Thanksgiving recipes into an e-book we are sharing with you for FREE!  All of the recipes in this free e-book are shared with love from our family to yours and are made with ingredients produced on our very own homestead. The only things we had to purchase in order to make all of these recipes was a turkey (which we could have raised), cranberries, liquid smoke and some mushrooms. We spent less than $25 at the grocery store for the items we needed in order to make this meal that fed our family of seven for several days. Everything else was grown in our garden and orchard. The flour and sugar we keep stored in bulk in our homestead pantry. The milk and butter came from our dairy cows. Celebrating with a meal like this seems like an appropriate way of thanking God for his provision for us in sending the sunshine and rain to grow the crops and feed our animals all throughout the year.

A From Scratch Sourdough Thanksgiving Dinner

If you are seeking to learn more about ways to be independent and secure with your food supply, I want to encourage you that you can feed your family without spending much at the grocery store. Start with what you have, where you are, and slowly but surely you’ll develop the skills needed to grow, preserve and cook from scratch. And one of the benefits of doing so, will be that you can make a Thanksgiving feast for pennies that is healthy and made from scratch. Cooking from scratch is an old fashioned skill that saves SO much money, not to mention things made from scratch taste better and are healthier.

Sourdough

All of these recipes that have flour in them, are made with sourdough including the gravy, the bread and the french onions for the green bean dish. That means that not only are these recipes easier for your body to digest, but if you are gluten intolerant or diabetic, you can most likely eat all of these recipes without any issues. When recipes are made with sourdough and long fermented, the sourdough breaks down most of the gluten and phytic acid in the flour, making it easier for your body to digest.
