How To Gift Sourdough Bread & Cinnamon Twists (Video)
These are some of my favorite ways to gift sourdough breads and cinnamon rolls. Sourdough makes a great gift because it is a consumable item, healthier than traditional sweets or candy and can be made in so many different ways! In the video below I show you some different ideas for gifting sourdough breads for any season of the year.
Seasonal Sourdough Bread Scoring Ideas
Sourdough bread can be scored with beautiful designs for each season. You can score your sourdough bread with snowflakes, stars and Christmas trees at Christmastime, hearts for Valentine’s Day, crosses for Easter and flowers for summertime.
Seasonal Flavoring Ideas For Sourdough Bread
You can also make different flavors of sourdough depending on the season! Double chocolate or cranberry orange walnut for Christmas, pumpkin cinnamon swirl for fall, cinnamon raisin for spring, and jalapeno cheddar or dill pickle sourdough for summer.
Sourdough Cinnamon Roll Gifts
I also love to give sourdough cinnamon rolls as they are a timeless classic that everyone enjoys. It’s fun to make them into pumpkin sourdough cinnamon rolls for fall, or make beautiful sourdough cinnamon twists and snowflakes for Christmas (see video below). I like to bake them on parchment paper, and then you can easily transfer them to a cakebox for gifting. It’s easy to dress up the cakebox with some ribbon for each season, or even for a birthday or anniversary gift.
Sourdough Gift Presentation Ideas
Homemade bread can be wrapped simply in a brown paper bread bag or in homemade beeswax wraps. You can easily add some homemade butter, jam or jelly to complete the gift and place it in a gift basket. Be sure to include a link to the bread recipe so folks can learn to bake their own sourdough. Here’s some free downloadable tags you can print off on cardstock or kraft brown paper, and attach to each gift.
For the sourdough cinnamon rolls, sourdough cinnamon twists and snowflakes I like to bake them on parchment paper, and then after they cool, place them in a cake box for the best presentation. Add some ribbon or a bow and a cute label, and you have a beautiful and easy to make gift perfect for any special occasions.

Tips For Gifting Sourdough
To make your gift of bread extra special, try making some flavored butter to go along with it and place it all in a bread basket. Some of my favorites are cinnamon honey butter, butter mixed with fresh herbs or a garlic scape butter.
Homemade jams and jelly are a perfect gift to give with a freshly baked loaf of bread. I like to make mine in the summertime when fruit is readily available, and then it’s all ready to give as a gift any time of the year. Learn how to make my favorite jam without pectin here.
If you will be gifting a lot of bread, you can bake it ahead of time and just freeze it the same day it’s baked so it will still taste super fresh. You can put instructions on the label that the bread can be reheated in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes and it will taste fresh baked. Be sure to download my free printable gift tags here.
To give the perfect gift to someone interested in becoming a sourdough baker, give them a loaf of sourdough bread and a printable recipe from the sourdough section of our blog.
FAQ
Can cinnamon rolls be frozen?
Yes, the cinnamon rolls can be frozen either before or after they are baked. It’s best if you wait to add the frosting until right before serving. I haven’t found it necessary to freeze my sourdough cinnamon rolls, because if you bake two of them side by side on a cookie sheet, you can bake 6 at a time in an oven with three racks. This means that I can easily make 25-30 dozen cinnamon rolls, or twists in about 3 hours including the time it takes to mix them up. So I just bake a whole bunch right before I want to gift them, and that way they are super fresh.
How do you package sourdough bread for a gift?
There are many ways to package sourdough breads for a gift, but my favorite way is to put them into a paper bread bag and seal them with a sticker. Attach a cute label, and add a jar of jam or some homemade butter and you have a beautiful gift that will be appreciated for any occasion.
